April 12, 2024 (Toronto, ON) – A new Liaison Strategies poll for the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada (NEPMCC) finds the BC NDP leading by 4 points over the BC Conservatives.

Conducted from April 2-3, 2024, using interactive voice response technology, the Liaison poll surveyed 1,105 British Columbia voters. The margin of error for the poll is +/- 2.94%, 19 times out of 20. Liaison is a member of the Canadian Research Insights Council (CRIC).

"We’re pleased to partner with Liaison to provide research insights to our members in BC," said Maria Saras-Voutsinas, Executive Director of NEPMCC.

"The Ethnic Press in BC is strong and growing and some of our most prominent national members are from BC’s Asian and South Asian press."

"We look forward to publishing research specific to those communities in the months to come," she said.

"What looks like a tight race would likely result in an NDP majority government," said David Valentin, Principal at Liaison Strategies. "The regional races are not a blow out for the NDP but their lead in Metro Vancouver (41-36 over the Conservatives) may be enough for re-election."

"On Vancouver Island the NDP are leading with 41% followed by the Greens (20%), Conservatives (19%) and Greens (18%) - it's effectively a three-way tie for second."

"Outside of Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island, 'Remainder of BC', it's the Conservatives who are leading by 9 points over the NDP (39-30). This is the prime area for Conservative pick-ups right now considering BC United performs best here but they are only at 19%."

"As we get closer to the next BC Election we look forward to releasing additional polling alongside our partners in the Ethnic Press. We'll be looking at issue question sets and doing research specific to prominent ethnic communities. BC is certainly a race to watch," concluded Valentin.
